"How to Cherish a Woman"

Winnie and Me
The Gal who brought joy
again to my life!
(see book dedication)

After years of write and rewrite my book How To Cherish A Woman is published.

After being invited to submit a manuscript to one of the leading publishers of Christian books in the country, and not being able to mesh my schedule and thoughts with theirs, I decided to let my organization Home Before Dark do it through a sub ministry Candle Publishers. The book was designed by Melander Graphics in Mannassas, Virginia. Dave said, “A book ought to be a work of art.” The cover is from an original water color done for the book. A handsome young couple sits by a pool in the woods that reflects their image perhaps 20 years later...still in love...still affectionately positioned. The beautiful graphics make it a lovely gift for others.

God’s intention is life long, joyous, love filled marriage. The principles in the book will help with that. The book is written especially for, but not exclusively to men. There is a chapter for women only as there is a chapter for men only. The other chapters have to do with maintaining a high spiritual tone to one’s life. Joyous relations will not long endure without the biblical principles I lay out. The book is designed to give you help in keeping your spiritual life on track.

What the Book Is About

In the preface I have written: “...I contend that only that man or woman who maintains a life of high spiritual tone – marked by happy obedience to God, daily perusal of His Word, and constant openness to His will—will be able to live in this coming new millennium a life filled with joy and not regret. Attention to the principles in this book will help you, live that kind of life.

I have watched as a “let it all hang out” society has trashed moral purity, reduced the ecstasy of sex to the purely physical and given the sensible inhibition of shame a bad name, producing thereby a shameless and thus gross social atmosphere. I've watched the grossing and coarsening of the American way of life, and it is time to get out of the ditches and back on the highway of the way, the truth, and the life.”

"The Parable of the Cardinals and the Glass Wall"

My first small book is the story of a family of cardinals I watched out of my study window over a period of 4 years. I recorded in my journal what I saw and the thoughts I had. When it was over I saw that it was a wonderful nature story. It is also a parable, i.e., an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. On the cover I write: “If ever you have been charmed by a person who turned out evil...faced a situation in which nothing you tried worked...been enticed into a relationship that began to demand the foolishly dangerous – or know someone who has – this book will speak to that need.

If ever you have seen someone caught in a cycle of life that sweeps the ones they love most into their own patterns of destruction...it is just possible that they many see more clearly, through this parable, things you just can’t say anymore.”

An Ivy League MBA said,
“That book contains some of the profoundest things I’ve read.”

Dr. W. A. Criswell,
“It is the best devotional book I’ve ever read.”

Author, TV personality, Ron Susek,
“It’s a classic.”
